Intergenerational Risk Transmission and Toxic Stress : Impact on Child Development in a Community Social Pediatric Setting

Abstract

Presented at the 22nd International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions World Congress (IACAPAP), Calgary, sept.2016 Preliminary data from the MAVAN study were presented as a poster at the IACAPAP congress in September 2016. We compared a CSP vulnerable population living in a low SES neighbourhood to a low income subsample of a community sample. Results suggest that not all low SES families are equally vulnerable. One may hypothesize, thus, that children exposed to toxic stress are at increased risk of developing behavioural problems.
